Studded tyres to be banned on Vasagatan from 2027
From 1 October 2027 Stockholm will ban studded tyres on Vasagatan, Torsgatan, Sveavägen and Birger Jarlsgatan. They are already banned on Fleminggatan, Hornsgatan and Kungsgatan between Sveavägen and Birger Jarlsgatan, though you may cross these streets.

Planned zero-emission zone nearby is on hold
Stockholm plans an environmental zone class 3 (only fully electric, Euro 6 gas and fuel-cell cars) in the City blocks inside Kungsgatan, Birger Jarlsgatan, Hamngatan and Sveavägen. The county board revoked it on 19 May 2026 and the city has appealed to Transportstyrelsen, so it is not in force.
