ZTL hours and the summer night ZTL
Florence's ZTL covers much of the historic centre and is enforced by cameras Monday to Friday 7:30-20:00 and Saturday 7:30-16:00; it is off on Sundays and holidays. From the first Thursday of April to the first Sunday of October it also applies from 23:00 to 03:00 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

If your hotel or garage is inside the ZTL, give the car's details to the reception or garage on arrival; they pass them to the Municipal Police. If you only drop off luggage and do not park there, you may stay inside for at most 3 hours.

Scudo Verde low-emission zone
Florence's 'Scudo Verde' (green shield), an area larger than the ZTL, uses cameras to enforce the ban on the most polluting vehicles: Euro 0 petrol and Euro 0-1 diesel. From 1 December 2026 the ban extends, with some exceptions, to Euro 1 petrol and Euro 2 diesel cars.

Parking inside the ZTL is only possible in hotel car parks or private garages. Park-and-ride car parks at Villa Costanza (Scandicci), Ponte a Greve (free), Via Sansovino and Viale Guidoni are served by the tram into the centre.
