From Milan: A8/A9 and SS336
From Milan, or from places to the east and north, reach Malpensa via the A8/A9 motorway to the Busto Arsizio - Milano Malpensa exit, then the SS336 state road towards Gallarate - Milano Malpensa.

From the west: A4, Marcallo Mesero exit
From Milan or the west you can take the A4 motorway to the Marcallo Mesero exit and continue on the SS336 towards Milano Malpensa. From Lombard towns to the north-east, use the Pedemontana A36 and then join the A8 and SS336.

Terminal 1 arrivals: 15 minutes maximum
At Terminal 1's arrivals level, cameras read number plates: from entry you have 15 minutes to pick up passengers and leave, after which fines apply. For longer waits there is a free waiting area between the two terminals, for up to 60 minutes.
